Training

Explorers receive hands-on training in fundamental law enforcement skills, including traffic control, report writing, and radio communications.

They also have the opportunity to assist deputies in real-world, controlled environments such as parades, athletic events, and community gatherings, gaining valuable experience in public safety.

Additionally, many Explorer posts provide training in firearm safety and marksmanship, ensuring participants develop responsible handling skills under professional supervision.

Explorer Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Explorers Program, you must: 

  • Be between the ages of 14 and 21 years old and have completed the eighth grade 

  • Maintain a 2.0 grade point average 

  • Be of good moral character and integrity 

  • Be willing to volunteer for community events
